Willow Smith Responds To Father Will Smith’s Oscars Slap Incident With Chris Rock

While the 94th Academy Awards were in the spotlight for films like Dune, CODA and The power of the dog, Will Smith remains on stage this year’s most talked-about Oscar moment to punch Chris Rock. Earlier this week, Smith broke his silence on the Oscars incident, apologizing to both Rock and the… SNL alum’s mom, explaining why he didn’t apologize to Rock during his Best Actor acceptance speech. Now Smith’s daughter Willow Smith has reacted to what happened between her father and Rock.

Will Smith slammed Chris Rock after the comedian joked about Jada Pinkett Smith’s baldness (which is a result of the actress having alopecia) during his Best Documentary Feature presentation. Just over four months later, and just days after her father’s public apology, Willow Smith informed Billboard that this incident hadn’t affected her creativity or “rocked me as much as my own internal demons.” As she explained:

I see my whole family as human beings, and I love them and accept them for all their humanity. Because of the position we find ourselves in, our humanity is sometimes not accepted and we are expected to act in a way that is not conducive to healthy human life and not conducive to honesty.
