Buccaneer’s quarterback Tom Brady caused a bit of a stir by missing practice on Friday for personal reasons. The commotion may officially end. Brady is back.
Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times has posted video evidence from Brady at training.
Brady had missed two practice sessions and hadn’t been on the field since news broke that the Dolphins had tampered with him extensively from 2019 to 2022. Brady hasn’t held a press conference since the NFL released its findings, so he hasn’t been asked about the matter.
Wild guess – the questions he will receive from the media about the Bucs will be very different in tone and content than the questions he would currently receive from the Boston media.
While Brady didn’t do anything wrong (by the rules) by tampering with it, the timing and scope of the discussions go way beyond just taking a phone call and politely declining the opportunity. He and Dolphins vice chairman Bruce Beal, a close friend, had numerous communications regarding the possibility of Brady playing for the Dolphins while Brady was playing for the Patriots and Buccaneers.
Brady has every right to do that. But it’s hard to fully embrace the idea that Tom is all about the team, while Tom is really all about Tom. He wants to pick his next place to play with the primary goal in mind whether that organization will help him reach his goal of not just winning another Super Bowl, but ideally all of them.
Once he’s on a team, it’s all about the team. Because he has to have everything about the team to get what Tom stands for.
His favorite Super Bowl ring. Also known as the following.
