The New York Police Department (NYPD) said its detectives arrested three men who shot at a party in Queens late Friday night.

In a media briefing, Jeffrey Maddrey, chief of patrol for the NYPD, said that at approximately 11:35 p.m. ET members of the violent crime team were located near 219th Street and 130th Avenue in Springfield Gardens, Queens.

The detectives were observing a party in the area, with about 75 to 100 in attendance.

“And they observed this party because they believed there might be violence involving some local street crews,” he explained.

They fired the cannons near the party and the detectives – realizing that danger was imminent – exited their vehicle.
