McDonald's Worker Killed Over Cold Fries by Disgruntled Customer's Son

  • A 23-year-old McDonald’s was killed on Wednesday after being shot by the son of a disgruntled customer.
  • The mother had complained to her son that she had been given cold chips.
  • The son came to McDonald’s and shot Matthew Webb in the face outside the establishment.

A McDonald’s employee in New York died days after a disgruntled customer’s son shot him in the face because the fries she was served were cold, according to local news reports.

The man, 23-year-old Matthew Webb, was gunned down Monday at a Brooklyn McDonald’s. Webb died Wednesday, the New York Police Department said, adding that it is now investigating the case as a homicide.

Police said Michael Morgan, 20, walked into McDonald’s and confronted Webb, who was working behind the counter Monday. Morgan’s mother had complained to Webb that she’d been given cold chips. Then she called Morgan and complained to him, police said.

Morgan then shot Webb outside, according to the NYPD. Then he gave his gun to his girlfriend and ran off.

When police brought Morgan to the station and questioned him, he also confessed to an unrelated 2020 murder, The New York Daily News reported. Morgan told police he killed a man in Brooklyn in October 2020.

Morgan confessed to murdering 28-year-old Kevin Hollomon outside an apartment building. Police said Holloman had suffered numerous gunshot wounds, according to The Daily News.

For Monday’s incident, Morgan is charged with attempted murder, as well as criminal possession of a weapon, ABC7 reported.

For the murder in 2020, according to ABC7, he is charged with murder.

The two murders took place within a stone’s throw of each other.

“We tried for a while to arrest this man and get him off the street,” an anonymous police source told The Daily News. “The man should be behind bars, should be in jail.”

Webb’s death is just the latest in a series of violent crackdowns against fast food workers.

In April, a man from Queens shot a delivery man who was delivering an order. Earlier this year in January, a 19-year-old who worked at a Burger King in Harlem was shot during a robbery.
