EAU CLAIRE, Wisconsin (WEAU) — With the first day of school next month, Mayo Clinic Health System medical professionals are stressing the importance of vaccinating children and making sure they get enough sleep.
Getting your child back into a routine is one of the most important ways you can help them prepare. Making sure they get enough sleep and exercise is important because fall sports are fast approaching.
Medical professionals say another way to prepare your kids for the start of the school year is to make sure they are up to date on all of their vaccines, including COVID-19.
“Before returning to group class settings, make sure your child is up to date, including their primary series and any boosters they qualify for when it comes to COVID-19. That will really be what keeps our classrooms safe into the new school year this fall,” said Nipunie Rajapakse, a pediatric infectious disease specialist.
The first day of school is Thursday, September 1, for most area school districts.
