Apple has slowly rolled out its new map to countries around the world, and today people in three more countries can enjoy the vastly improved map on their iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac.
According to Apple Maps enthusiast Justin Obeirne, the company has begun rolling out its new map to three more countries: Israel, Palestine and Saudi Arabia.
Obeirne specifically says that the company is “publicly testing its next expansion,” so it’s unclear whether the card will be available to all users in those countries right now or only select users for now.
What’s on the new map?
Obeirne has looked at the changes that the new map will bring for the new countries. In Israel, he glanced at the changes coming to the city of Jerusalem. As you can see below, you can see just how much extra detail comes with the update.
Looking at Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, it seems that Apple is bringing at least one of its additional map features with its new map. In addition to all that sweet detail, as you can see below, the city is also getting the three-dimensional treatment.
Obeirne notes that the new features coming to these three countries represent Apple’s sixteenth expansion of its new card. The company originally announced its new card at WWDC in 2018 and launched it later that fall in California. It took until April 2020 to roll out the new map to the rest of the United States.
Since then, it has expanded the new map to a number of other countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.
The new map not only offers more details, but also offers many functions, including sightseeing, 3D cities, viaduct and new ways of navigation, including directions for public transport and cycling.
